The Institute for the Advancement of Science Teaching is a nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1992. The first priority of the institute is providing teachers with the resources, information, and skills necessary for a successful A.P.® or Pre-A.P.™ Course. The AP® institutes focuses on curricula and instructional delivery that can be used immediately in beginning an AP® course. The institutes are conducted by experienced teachers who are exceptional educational professionals in their fields and are College Board certified.

The Pre-A.P.™ Institutes stress those topics that support the Advanced Placement Program®. It focuses on appropriate techniques and content needed for a challenging and grade appropriate Pre-A.P.™ Course.
