About Ann Mar Ann Mar holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the College of William and Mary and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Currently she teaches AP® Spanish Language, Spanish 3 pre-AP and 12th grade Spanish Immersion at Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas, where she also serves as chairman of the LOTE department. Her areas of interest include second language acquisition, immersion education, materials development, proficiency assessment, and teacher education. She is vice-president of the San Antonio de Bejar Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and has presented at local school districts, and at regional and national conventions, including Texas Foreign Language Association, ACTFL, AATSP and the AP National Conference. A College Board Endorsed AP® Consultant, she has served as a reader and table leader for the AP® Spanish Language exam. Since 2008 Ann Mar serves on the Spanish Language Curriculum Development and Assessment Committee of the College Board. She coauthored the curriculum module El agua es vida, and has collaborated on other AP® Spanish Language professional development Special Focus publications.
