Pre-AP™ Science (MS)
July 23 - 26, 2012
James Madison High School, San Antonio, TX

This workshop is intended for teachers of middle school science who are teaching or preparing to teach Pre-AP™ Science as part of a vertical team approach to the Advanced Placement® program. Participants will review Pre-AP™ rationale and strategies, examine Pre-AP™ development skills, and develop a format for vertical team planning and goal-setting. Computers, CBLs, graphing calculators, software, and probes will be used in the laboratory setting to collect and analyze data. Participants are encouraged to bring laptop computers, Lab Pros, CBL's, TI-83 calculators, and probes if they have them. Experiences during the institute will assist in making informed decisions regarding the purchase and incorporation of technology into the classroom and lab. Parallel labs will offer "low-tech" methods of presenting concepts. Participants should be prepared to share their tried and true, "best practices" with others in the institute.
